A dental hygienist focuses on preventing and treating problems with the gums and teeth. During the treatment, plaque and tartar are carefully removed and the health of your gums is assessed.

You will also receive personal advice on brushing and cleaning between the teeth and molars. For example, do you suffer from bleeding or sensitive gums, recurring tartar, or bad breath? Then a visit to the dental hygienist can help identify the cause and prevent further problems.

You do not have to wait until you have complaints to make an appointment with the dental hygienist. Precisely by paying regular attention to your gums and oral hygiene, problems can be recognized early and prevented as much as possible.

A visit to the dental hygienist can be wise, for example, if you suffer from bleeding or sensitive gums, have regular tartar, experience bad breath, or notice that your gums are receding. Even without complaints, professional dental cleaning can be part of good preventive oral care.

During the appointment, the dental hygienist first assesses the health of your gums and your oral hygiene. This involves looking at where plaque and tartar are present and whether there are signs of gum inflammation.Subsequently, plaque and tartar are carefully removed, including in places that are difficult to reach yourself. Depending on your teeth and oral health, you will receive personal advice on brushing and cleaning between the teeth and molars. In this way, we not only treat existing problems but also help you to prevent new complaints as much as possible.

How often to the dental hygienist?

How often a visit to the dental hygienist is necessary varies per person. The health of your gums, the amount of plaque and tartar, and how well you can clean your teeth at home play an important role in this.

Some people find a periodic professional dental cleaning sufficient, while others require more frequent monitoring and treatment. Together we will look at which frequency suits your teeth.

Do you suffer from bleeding gums, rapidly recurring tartar, or gum problems? Then it may be wise to have your oral health checked more often.
