What happens during the removal of a wisdom tooth?
01 — Examination and assessment
We examine the wisdom tooth and assess its position and the surrounding teeth and tissues. If necessary, we take an X-ray.
02 — Local anesthesia
Before the treatment, the area is carefully anesthetized. We only start the removal once the anesthesia is working properly.
03 — Removing the tooth
The wisdom tooth is carefully removed. Depending on the position, it may sometimes be necessary to remove the tooth in sections.
04 — Aftercare and recovery
After the treatment, you will receive clear instructions for at home. We discuss, among other things, what you can expect and how best to care for the wound during the first few days.

Not every wisdom tooth needs to be removed. When a wisdom tooth has erupted well, is healthy, and can be kept clean, it can often simply stay in place.
Removal may be advised when the wisdom tooth causes complaints or when problems arise for the tooth itself or the surrounding teeth. We therefore always assess your personal situation and take an X-ray if necessary.

After removing a wisdom tooth, it is normal for the wound to be sensitive for the first few days. Swelling and limited mouth opening may also occur. The swelling is often most present during the first few days and then gradually subsides.
Follow the provided aftercare instructions carefully. Avoid vigorous rinsing or touching the wound during the initial period, and be mindful of eating and drinking as long as the anesthesia is still working.
